Ruaha National Park

Tanzania’s Wild Southern Frontier

Remote, rugged, and incredibly wild — Ruaha National Park is Tanzania’s largest national park and one of Africa’s most untouched safari secrets.

Discover Ruaha National Park

Ruaha National Park is a vast wilderness located in southern Tanzania, far from the busy northern safari circuit. Covering over 20,000 square kilometers, it is Tanzania’s largest national park and one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in East Africa. Ruaha is defined by its raw, untouched nature. The Great Ruaha River flows through the park, attracting massive concentrations of wildlife during the dry season. Elephant herds numbering in the hundreds gather along the riverbanks, while predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and wild dogs dominate the landscape. What makes Ruaha truly special is its sense of isolation. With very few visitors compared to Serengeti or Ngorongoro, game drives often feel completely private. This exclusivity allows for intimate wildlife encounters and an authentic safari experience far from crowds. The park also features dramatic landscapes — rocky hills, ancient baobab trees, savannah plains, and seasonal rivers. Birdlife is exceptional, with over 500 recorded species making Ruaha a paradise for birdwatchers. For travelers seeking raw adventure, big game, and true wilderness, Ruaha offers one of Africa’s most rewarding safari experiences.
